Title:
Applicability of airborne electromagnetic at farm scale in the Lower Balonne area, Southern Queensland, Australia
Publication Date:
01/03/2004
Description:
The Bureau of Rural Sciences (BRS) produced this report as part of the investigation for the Lower Balonne Airborne Geophysics Project, undertaken in collaboration between the BRS, the Queensland Department of Natural Resources Mines & Energy and the Cooperative Research Centre for Landscape Environments and Mineral Exploration. The project assisted with sustainable land and water management within the southern Queensland Murray-Darling Basin, using a variety of approaches including airborne geophysical techniques supported by hydrogeological, hydrochemical, stratigraphic, geomorphic and geological studies. This report describes the applicability of airborne electromagnetics to farm-scale water and soil resource management in south-central Queensland. Generally, ground-based geophysical surveys are used to assist with hydrogeological and agricultural assessment at the paddock to farm-scale. However, airborne EM surveys with closely spaced flight lines also have potential to be applied at farm-scale in areas with gradational hydrogeological and lithological boundaries
